Week 1:Home Sweet Home


This summer I had the chance to go back and visit my hometown, Euharlee, Georgia. I had not been back home since Christmas time, so I was very excited for my visit. I've always been an early riser and one morning I woke up just in time to catch the sunrise. I stood outside in my driveway and watched the sky shift between shades of purple and amber as the sun began to rise over the horizon. In that moment I began to reflect on my childhood growing up in Georgia. In my teenage years, I remembered how eager I was to leave the sleepy country town that I currently lived in and to escape Georgia completely. It wasn't until I was standing there taking in the morning sunlight, that I realized how much I actually missed being home. There was just something about how the warm sky and how the sunlight silhouetted the rest of the neighborhood through the fog that made me feel completely at peace. This helped me rediscover the love I have for my hometown and to appreciate where I came from a little more.
