Week 1: Desert Sunset

This summer I went to my hometown to visit my family in Palmdale, CA. As I was driving away the sun began to set. I forgot how beautiful it can be, especially in the desert. Those were the things I missed, watching the sunrise on my way to school and sunset in the evening. They filled me with joy and calmness. They would relax me and I never realized why. Well, I stopped the car and got out so I could take a photo. The colors of this sunset are blended well and gentle. There is a softness where the sky and the clouds and the house all meet. The clouds add a texture to the sky that keeps it from feeling flat behind the house. Though the house is shadowed heavily the scene is peaceful to me. A peaceful desert sunset. I'll always have a piece of home, a piece of calmness with me.
